Buy and manage numbers
Last updated 4 September 2026
Redialler calls from US local numbers. You can buy them inside the app or enable numbers you already own in Twilio. This guide covers buying, enabling, how the picker chooses a number, and releasing.
Search by area code
Go to Numbers and choose Buy. Enter an area code, for example 415 for San Francisco. Redialler shows available local numbers in that area. Choose one and confirm.
Buy numbers for the areas you call most. A number in the same area code as the person you call is more likely to be picked up. A number in the same state is the next best.
Enable existing Twilio numbers
If you connect your own Twilio account, Redialler lists every number in it as inventory. Owning a number in Twilio is not enough. You must enable it in Redialler before it can be used.
Enabling a number does two things. It marks the number active in Redialler, and it points the number at Redialler so inbound calls reach your team.
Disabling a number removes it from Redialler only. Twilio settings are not changed, so a number shared with another tool keeps working there.
How the picker chooses a number
Each rep has a caller ID policy. Fixed always uses one number. Auto geo picks the closest healthy number: same area code first, then same state, then any US number. Auto rotate spreads calls across healthy numbers that have been used least.
- Each number has a daily cap and a minimum gap between calls.
- A number with a falling answer rate is rested and brought back later.
- If you called the same person before, Redialler prefers the same number so they recognise it.
Release a number
Open the number and choose Release. Releasing returns the number to the carrier. Anyone who calls it back will hear a disconnected message, so keep numbers you have called from recently.
Release is permanent. If you only want to stop using a number for a while, disable it instead.
